What makes East Bay Tutoring Different:
My name is Catherine Simpson. I tutor 1:1 sessions, either online or in-person. I'm fully vaccinated and have a car, so I can come to you. I help all levels of high-school students, though I specialize in helping high achieving students achieve their dreams.
Great students can be the worst perfectionists and procrastinators, too caught up in their vision of how a problem can be executed to have the wherewithal to get it done. East Bay College Prep can help students reach their full potential by recognizing that changes in mindset and habits are the foundation of academic and lifelong success.
In my sessions, I create an environment of discipline and encouragement. Your child and I will map a plan towards a specific goal for each session. For long-term goals, I maintain frequent communication with parents in order to keep parent, student, and tutor accountable to a mutually agreed-upon plan. I also use Google Suite--Sheets, Calendar, and Docs-- to create plans with students to best execute their academic goals that will be accessible to parents and the tutor. Google Suite will also be used to keep records of student progress.
I am a five-year tutor with experience tutoring elementary to high school students. I specialize in tutoring College Essay, SAT Prep, and ACT Prep. I also specialize in the AP’s, including AP Literature, AP Language and Composition, AP Biology, AP European History, AP World History, and AP US History. I have worked with both private clients and for tutoring companies, including Sylvan Learning and C2 Education. I am currently Lead Teacher for C2 Education, a position about 30 tutors hold among the 1500 tutors in the company. I am also a published poetry and short story writer, with over 50 pieces in literary journals. I work by establishing a close rapport with my students and consistently holding them to high standards. My students have gone onto Stanford, Penn, Cornell, UC Berkeley, UCLA, Duke, and Brown, among others.
